I'm in the market for a new radio for my 73'. First question, what does DIN stand for, and (2) what is the DIN for a 73'? I would like to find an Alpine that will fit without cutting the bezel, any recommendations.
DIN is an acroynym for Deutsche Institut fur Normung, which is the German standards organization. DIN pretty much means the "standard" size for an aftermarket radio. If I am correct your car has a 2 **** radio. If this right then yes you will have to cut the dash or mount the radio in another location. This is common in cars like yours when owners want to keep the das original.
Thanks EatRice for your help, now I can stop trying to figure out whatDIN stands for, I would have never got in. I will buy another bezel and keep the original. Thanks again guys for your help.
That is cool, I would love a 70's convertible caddy to lower and put some 20's on. Throw in a new interior, motor, and system, it would be a cool cruiser. Ton's of fun and you wouldn't be out a lot of $$$$.
My '75 Vette got more looks than any of the others I've owned and I had about $8000 in it when I sold it in '97.
Edit: Geez, can't get over the size of that hood! Goes on forever!
