FM Modulator wrecks AM reception
Recently installed a satellite radio (which I love and recommend). I used an FM modulator to hook it into the stock stereo system in my 01 Z06. Since setting it up, my AM reception is shot. I'm not able to pick up anything, not even the regular blow torches that I listen to.
Any tips for fixing this? I don't want to wire the satellite radio into the aux quite yet; I was hoping for "known problems/tips" on FM modulators and antennas.

Yea. FM modulators are known to kill antenna signal reception.
I found this out 10 years ago with a CD changer.
Still holds true, apparently.
You may have a bad modulator, tho...

Did you try to turn it off when you are looking for AM stations? I have had numerous FM modulators over the years and they will, without a doubt, over-power the AM signal if they are not turned off.

look into the PIE adapter which uses RCA type direct connect to your factory head unit... and throw that FM modulator away.
