What do you mean by surround sound? By todays standard surround sound would be 5.1. There is 6.1 and 7.1 but everything is still recorded for 5.1 so I will tell you about that. You can install speakers in the front,rear,center channel, and sub in your car. Then use a 6 channels of amplification and a source unit that is 5.1 capable. Hook it all up and there you go Dolby Digital 5.1.

He could play DVD audio. Some of that is done in 5.1
your standard audio CD is 2 channels though. (Stereo, dur) The most you can do with more than 2 speakers is have a messed up sound stage, cancellation, and very incorrect imaging.. not "surround sound"
