I am installing a custom enclosure, one 12" MTX 8000 sub, and a Kicker KX400.1 amplifier. I have all of the wiring ran, except I believe I am having trouble with the Line-output converter. I could have possibly wired it wrong (stock Bose head unit on a 2003 Z06) It is grounded correctly, all wires are correct, because amp has power, but I have no signal to the subwoofer....
Any reccomendations? I installed the line output converter behind the head unit, and spliced it into place.. Maybe I used the wrong wires for the connection? Should I remove tyhe line output converter, and reinstll in behind the deck, like at one of the rear speakers? What did I do wrong?
How did you splice from the HU to the line converter? If you used what I call the "in line" connectors, it is pretty easy to use a size that has a slot too large, and it will not even cut through the insulation. The output wiring from the HU is pretty thin gauge and it takes a very small slot or connector to make sure you have a clean connection.
Second what wires did you use? They should be from the C4 connector and you can use the LT Grn/Blk(RF) Tan/Blk(LF), Dk Blue(RR) or Dkn Brn(LR) for Positive and use the unshielded(wrapped in clear) for negative.
My 98 has full range though all 4 wires coming off teh C4 connector. I just installed an amp and sub tonight and experimented with both front and rear RCA connections to make sure I had everything hooked up correctly and there was no difference in the sound at all.
Hope that helps.
Steve, you could be right, because the wires you stated are the ones that I am splicing through.... Maybe the slots ARE too big, guess I will look for some smaller ones for the smaller guage, to make sure the cut is actually going through, and touching the wire...
Thanks for your help bro, I appreciate it!
