Please help,
I installed a 10' sub and amp to a stock c-5 headunit. I am using the audiolink PD-2. Everything works great until i turn the system off. I am using the remote amp on/off signal, as per audiolink cable, to turn the PD-2 and my amp on/off. Apparently when the radio is turned off or the key is removed the h/u has a delay of about 4 sec before it sends a signal to turn off the remote amps. Before it sends the signal it grounds the RCA signal. All this causes my amp/sub to recieve an errant signal and blast a long, loud hmmm.
Has anybody else had this problem? How did you solve it???
I just got done with the same problem less than a week ago. It took a lot of trial and error to figure out what was wrong but I finally got it. Make sure your ground is very good on both the amp and the PD2. What was causing this noise in my car was the rca cables were somehow getting interference, so I replaced them with new ones and it solved the problem. Good luck the guys at audiolink were no help whatsoever.
I had a amp years ago that did the somthing similar it would pop the sub when the system was turned off. It turned out to be the amp was turning off to fast and I had to install a delay on the remote wire. I think it was called a pop stoper.
Thought I should post my resolution to this problem, for those in the future.
On the PD-2 is a gain control for the RCA outputs to the amp. On MY particular amp (Rock Fosgate-500.2), it also has a RCA gain/sensitivity control. The solution to the loud feedback/hmmmm was due to the gains on the AMP itself being turned up to high. They were set at that level on my previous system. Once I turned down the amp gains, I used the gains on the PD-2 to balance the system.
Problem SOLVED !!!!
Like anything the fix was simple, just figuring it out was hard.
