Default How do I make it fit?

Hi,

I'm currently installing a regular sized head unit into my C5 - I've done all the wiring and made a good start on the fibre-glassing to finish off the dash.

Then I came to fit the head unit. :(

The gap between the 2 supporting struts that hold the original stereo is much wider than the new standard sized head unit I have.

So my question is simply - what can I use to make the standard sized head unit fit into this hole? Wood? Or does anyone know of an adaptor I can buy or something?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm not sure I understand. You are doing a custom install with fiberglass?
Will a regular HU mounting kit not work?

When I installed my LCD screen and HU, I made a mount out ot 5/8" particle board and covered it with this to give it a "factory plastic look"

Hey Leolufse,

I've taken the panel with the air-con unit and original stereo out of the car while I fit the new units. Behind the factory dash panel, there are two big metal struts which usually house the stereo and air-con unit. These two struts are what I was intending to mount the head units to, but they're simply too wide apart.

Do you know the ones I mean?

You need a dash kit for a DIN radio. A Metra or Schoshe kit. One of the forum members makes a nice one from aluminum. He also makes the plates for the door speakers I think they are nylon on a CNC machine. Maybe someone can chimein with his name.

:iagree:

And they can be retro fit to work in C4's too. I missed my fedex delivery of mine from Vrumvrum today.

You can reach Mike Stanzel (aka Vrumvrum) at:
