Default MP3 recording methods needed ???

OK this should be simple but so far it isn't??

I have an Alpine HU that can play MP3's.
I have some MP3's on my computer.

I used Windows Explorer (Wxp) to transfer the files from the HD to CD.
It gave me 2 options, 1) record as music file 2) record as data file.
At first I selected the music file option but I think it converts the files into a wav file so I can only fit 73 minutes on the disk.
I saved them as data files so I got something like 9 hrs of music on the cd but the Alpine wont read it??
My computer at work (W2k) has no problem so I know the disk is ok.

How do you guys do it??
Is there a good freeware program out there to do this??

I think the CD's were Memerex

I was wondering about the finalize thing?
When I used Easy CD Creator it did a finalize.
I have not installed this software since Wxp seems to let me just drag and drop files to the CD. When I tell it to burn the files it just spits out the disk when done.

Sounds like I have to re-install Easy CD.
Unless there is something else that will work better?
I think I have the lite version of Nero Burning that came witht he laptop.

Thanks

Yes, use Nero
Don't know about Memorex...some have had problems with that brand...I've always used Office Depot CDR in my Alpine without problems...

Easy CD Creator won't make CD's(MP3's) that my Alpine will read, either.. I can take the same MP3's , burned from Easy CD, put them on another computer, burn them on a new CD(same brand) with Nero, and it plays perfect.. Go figure

Well I got it to work ??
As far as I can figure:
I downloaded some Metallica concert tunes off their site so I saved them in seperate folders for each show.
Since my Alpine has some sort of feature to look thru folders I just recorded it this way.
It couldn't seem to read it??

I did another ecording last night but no folders, just dumped all the songs onto the disk and it worked this way
Cool, even shows the song title and stuff.

I guess I have to read up on how this folder thing works.
