Help with Metra Headunit Install Kit
The person that had my Corvette before me replaced the Bose unit with an aftermarket Head unit. They hacked up the radio bezel and had cut a piece of ABS to get the unit to fit. It looks terrible. I bought a Metra install kit and a new bezel and have a question: the Metra kit uses an ISO setup and a half DIN deal that has a bracket that connects a little storage area to the receiver. All fine and good, but how does the deck get secured inside the dash? Is there possibly a bracket that was removed when the Bose was taken out? Anyone that has experience with this, pplease sound off. Thanks.
Not sure what year you have but I have a 94.
The Metra kit came with a small sunglasses compartment, 2 side brackets and assorted hardware.
If I remember correctly the side brackets screwed onto the compartment and directly to the radio.
I had to fuss with it a lot to find a set of holes that worked with my Alpine deck but it fit.
No need to cut the radio trim bezel at all.
The only cutting I had to do was in the back of the radio since my wiring harness came out right into a support piece.
