About 10 years ago I had a system in my Firebird and I had Rockford Fosgate tweeters and speakers in the doors and in the back that were run by a Rockford Fosgate 4040 Punch Amp. In the back 2-12" Solo Baric Kicker Subwoofers run by a 100 Punch Amp.
I was wondering if people are happy with their Alpine stuff or if I should go with one of the companies above?

See my response to your post in General Discussion. I have had Alpine products for 18 years and have not had one single problem should say enough about their quality. I run my systems hard and in my opinion they are one of the best product lines out there.

There are lots of great choices in the car audio world but you really can't go wrong with Alpine. These Type-X speakers are incredible and this is a great sale:

I've used 5 different V12 amps over the years and they are solid with excellent features and front-ends. Not much needs to be said about their source units (decks, monitors, DVD players). They are top notch.

I haven't used them as long but 10 years will make a believer. I use a older pre-amp CDA 7931 deck along with a EQ ERA-G320 and have a small 30x4 amp pushing my system. I will not use their speakers though. They just don't sound right to my ears.
The only thing I dislike about the Alpine line, is the face design of the new decks. From roughly 2000+ they have been hideous.

Check out the Type-X comps. They are much different than the Type-S and Type-R stuff you normally see. There was a review of high-end comps in a recent issue of CarAudioMag and the Type-X comps beat out comps costing over $6000.
Well, I've been using since back in the late 80's. I starting using their gear when I started competing in sound-off. Back when all they cared about sound quality.
I will also say I was sponsered by them for a while, but that was a long time ago.
Anyway, in general, I love their equipment. Although I will say that the days of Alpine being a total autophile brand are long gone. They've had to fall into the fancy flashing displays and lower end decks like most other vendors. The quality the put into most of their head units/changers is usually excellent. I used to say that about their entire line, but I haven't always been impressed by their lower end stuff over the last 5 years or so.
As far as their componenets like amps and speakers, well that varies. The have a made a few amps that are outstanding, but most are average at best. Now their speakers are a little different. They OEM most of their drivers. I don't know who they are using now, but back when I had contacts with them, they use a lot of Dynaudio, Gauss, and a few others. Their higher end lines are excellent.
I still can kick myself for selling my 7909. Although my 7990 is outstanding, just a little ugly. I guess I still love their old look of solid black with the green chicklet buttons.
The only other brand out there I would look at is Nakamichi, but I don't know what their financial situation is right now. It was a little shaky over the last couple of years.
