Here's mine. Just finished tonight. Still have to get a cig. plug. cover for use with cell phone/gps. Other item is smartcord hardwire for Passport 8500 x50.

Im getting a huge amount of dropouts on my XM installed like you did.

I think I may have to use an external antennae mounted above my rear window.

Also, when I run the AM part of the radio, I get radio noise I never had before, do you hear this too? Mine Im sure is due to the antenna relay for the XM.

I get so many dropouts here, I live on a rural island I may have to get rid of the unit. Cant use it, in the city its fine. MY wifes RV has sirius and we get no dropouts but sirius is a direct connect to the satelite. the drawback on sirius is the ugly antenna and it doesnt fit in the ashtray.

Any comments? Ideas? Thanks

getting ready to do one or the other but as far as SIRIUS and the antenna can't you put it in the back between the cargo wall where the tailights are?? Alot of guys putting antennas back there

My antenna is velcroed to that little ledge on the rear facia right above the rear license plate. Very few dropouts - ususally due to large buildings, over-passes, etc.

Just jumping in with some related feedback...

are pictures of my installation - it shows the location of the antenna on the dash. I *only* have problems with reception in wooded areas here in metro Atlanta. However, the FM modulator leaves a lot to be desired for both sound quality and interference with FM stations. I am looking to direct connect, but will not do that until I replace the factory stereo.

Yes. It is about the size as a book/box of matches.

XM commander pee yew

i just installed the xm commander system in my car and i must say its the WORST sounding audio equipment i have heard. i might as well have a little 2 dollar fm radio sitting on the front seat--it would sound better. i feel like just cutting all the wires to remove and can it. if anybody as any ideas to improve it im willing to try otherwise its gone. are the other systems better as far as sound quality?????
