MP3 / 12-CD Changer Question

I didn't get much response in the General Discussion forum, so maybe posting here will work better

I searched the forums and couldn't find the exact answer to my question:

I have a 2004 Coupe with the factory 12-CD changer. I want to buy an iPod (or something similar) and hook it up to play through the existing stereo system. What do I need?

Basically I want MP3 playback capability without ripping out what I got!

So I unplug the harness from the back of the cd changer and then connect a MP3 player? If so, will the regular stereo controls operate the MP3 player?

I think what you would do, since you already have a changer & prewire, is unplug the changer harness at the passenger footwell and plug this thing in.

Then you plug your portable unit into the adapter.

Two things though: the radio buttons will not control the MP3 unit, and you won't be able to use the changer anymore.

I think I get it now. I was cleaning the car this morning and found the passenger footwell. I was thinking you would have to leave the MP3 player in the trunk well! :blush:

I installed a 12 disc JVC mp3 changer in the right rear trunk compartment and did an RF modulater to the radio antenna module behind the drivers seat, worked well, now it is direct connect to a JVC head unit

to have ipod control but lose the cd changer...pac audio has an ipod interface unit... do a search or go on there website
