Default GPS advise

I am in the market for a gps and was looking at the garmin 2610. I need something that is easy to change the address, as I do service work and stop about 4-6 times a day. Is this a good unit for this type of use? It will mainly be used in Nor. Va. and will be in a service van.
Also, could you reccomend a place to purchase? I notice on the internet I can get better prices then the local Best Buy or Circuit City.

I have a Garmin 2610 and like it. Very portable, seems accurate and does all the things I need. I did buy a larger CF memory card (128MB). I bought mine at Staples. Good luck.

Hey Barry, Thanks for the reply. I ordered the 2610 and I was told that it now comes with a 128 card. I ask the lady how much memory this translates into and she said that NYC and Long Island take up 19mb of space, so carrying nor. va should not be a problem.
Again, thanks for your input.

I believe you will be quite happy with the 2610.

This is probably too late, but it may help others or you if you have a 30 day return option. I have played with countless GPS units and finally decided to spend a little extra and go with the Magellan Roadmate 700. I'd write down a lot of pros for this model, but it boils down to the advantages gained by eliminating the big space limitation (uses a 10-15gig harddrive), excellent GPS receiver, and the interface/menus are really amazing... the rest of the details are here: http://www.thegpsstore.com/detail_MA65203.asp The only non-useful feature (at least currently) is the points of interest option. It has 2mil points of interest programmed in (you can search for chinese food nearby, but its still missing most restaurants and what not and may pick one 50 miles away which is useless). However, its still good for major city features such as airports, stadiums, museums, landmarks etc... The map updates are free and should be available yearly, but I don't know if they will be expanding on the POI to increase its usefulness as a feature.

Anyway, sure is nice!!! I've been searching for Vettes in other unfamiliar cities and when I ask the owners for the address to come by and check it out, the first thing I usually get is, "its really hard to find the house with all the twists and turns, so let me list off some stores/sites to go along with the directions". Not needed with a GPS that directs you turn-by-turn and points you to the house address within 3 meters. Most also tell you how much further you have to drive on your calculated route and using the street's posted speeds will tell you how many minutes are estimated remaining on the trip, so you can even accurately call ahead. The next big inovation will be to integrate an internet service over satelite (doesn't have to be very fast), so that it can take into account traffic conditions rather than assuming posted speed limits, and also able to query an up-to-date yellow pages database for addresses by name. Bet that will be out in the next 5 years.
