Default CDR and MP3 options for C5

Guys,

I'm hoping for some advice here. As some of you may know, I have posted two or three times already about how my CD changer will not play CDR's acceptably. I know the CDR's are fine as they play in many other players with no problems. It seems I have a few options. I can try and buy a used corvette changer and hope it works better than mine(as some seem to play CDR's without problems) or I can try to have mine repaired thinking the laser may be slightly out of alignment causing regular CD's to play okay but not CDR's Or

I can go with some type of solution that will play MP3's as that will work fine too. Ideally I would like a solution that is cost effective and that will let me use the stock headunit controls and changer cable. I'm open to all suggestions. I know I could rip out the system and start from scratch, but I really don't want to bother with that. Being a stereo installer, I know the hassle and the system is good enough that I don't really want to bother yet.

Thanks in advance.

Rob

i wouldn't bet the farm on getting another unit and hoping it "works better" sweetie. ours has NEVER played cd-r's worth a DAMN.

and we've tried everything: slow burn speeds, every different type of cd-r on the market, different computer/cd-burners, etc etc etc. some will not play AT ALL. some will "sorta play"... with a lot of skipping, distortion, etc.

i finally gave up and got... XM. iPod. now i have all the music i can handle and it WORKS.

But the IPod, XM etc. you have to use the controls on the individual units right? You can't use the stock head unit controls correct? Some people are having luck with the CDR's playing. I'm guessing a different changer was used at some point.

Aux Pod http://www.pac-audio.com/

Control your Ipod from the stock stereo in a C5.

I am going to disconnect my CD Changer and plug in a Ipod.
Run the cables into the center console and I will have a 40 gig player that I can control from the stock stereo headunit.

Hey Vette2k, That sounds exactly like what I want to do. After you're done with your IPOD install can you post some pictures so we can see how it turns out?

OMG, this is so cool. I'm so excited now. Wonder if it only works with the IPOD, probably since thats the most expensive one, but still being able to control a huge array of songs from the factory radio is definately cool. No more burning cds.

Freaking harness costs 190 dollars. Other than that, this is the right track.
