I have an Alpine Type R 10" sub with Alpine amp. It sounds fine to me, but I've always liked Alpine and may be biased.

Man this is like opening a can of worms...

I'm running an Image Dynamics IDMAX ( 12 inch ). Ok, well I will be this weekend. I'm pushing it with 600ish watts from an MTX 500D. I'm not sure if that's RMS or Peak.

I've heard both ID MAX subs and w7's. They are both awesome subs. I went with the ID Max because I got it used and cheap If the sub is too much you can always turn your gain on the amp down.

As far as which amp you should get, there's a lot of good amps these days. Take your pick really. Just find one that best suits the sub you find. Depending on the type of music you listen to and whether or not you wanna be able to crank it up and rattle your teeth you may consider getting an amp with a remote gain. That may not be the politically correct term for it, but there are amps (I've seen Rockford Fosgates) that have an adjustable gain. I've always thought this was a pretty cool feature and worth while.

Goodluck with your project. We have some really insane guys on the forum that know everything. We have a couple Pro's too.

Take it easy and keep us posted.

I'm running 3 JL Audio 10w3's and am extremely happy with 'em. They're driven by a Fosgate 800a2 with remote bass (the remote bass control is installed in my ash tray) which makes it easy to adjust the bass depending on what I'm listening to.

Good luck with your install!

That is the same setup I have.

Here's what I did.

I had to use every mm of space to fit a 10W7 in the box. I shaved the bottom of the box to keep the magnet from hitting.

I am running a Power Acoustik ( Farenheit CK12 ) with a Power Acoustik Splash 1102 amp! I'm not a big fan of off names, but this Farenheit sub really does it's job! 1000 watts rms, and 2000 watts peak! Rattles my whole freaking car, and the sound quality is awesome! Need I say more!!

500 watts isn't enough to drive a 10w7 particularly cuz you are going to have to stuff it into a stealth box that most likely won't have enough air space unless you make it out of fiberglass or raise it up. I'd consider a 10w6v2. 500 watts is more reasonable power, and it loves smaller boxes.

when i called JL they said to use the 500 watt amp. I am going to raise the box so I can fit it with the right space. I dont really carry anything in the trunk unless im going to play golf. Im going to copy this guys setup.
