I'm not sure if this needs to be posted here or somewhere else? But anyways, I am going to replace the Bose everything in my car. As far as the head unit I was told I needed to rewire everything, so my question is where do I get a new power source from, and a constat hot? Running the speaker wires is no biggie. I am assuming that all the wires have to be replaced because they are too small unless the Bose system is used. TIA
You should be able to find a plug-in harness that will do away with cutting wires at the back of the radio. Use the speaker wires at the speakers and wire around the amps. Unplug the power to the speaker amps.
My 89 had a bose. Best buy, circuit city or autozone should have the adapter you need so you don't have to cut wiring harness in car. However, you are better off running new speaker wires to the speakers since bose system uses too small of gage on speaker wires and throws amps in to the mess. I used the adapter for the power connections and ran all new wires for the speakers. I also installed speakers in the dash pad instead of in the doors. Sounds much better. Good luck
My car is a 91'. I was told to run ALL new wires because the aftermarket head unit would pull more amperage than the Bose unit. The Bose unit wiring is too small for an aft.mark. unit. I am replacing all the speakers along with the HU.
huh? I don't buy that arguement... sounds like someone is selling a line of crap, notice the size of the wire coming from the head unit. It ain't that big! The factory power will be more than enough to support an aftermarket head unit.
