OK ... I've searched and can't find the answer to my question:
I have a 2004 Coupe with the 12 disc changer. I have an iPod. I ordered the GM10-AUX. I've accessed the panel in the passenger side floor board. Now ... where do you plug in the GM10-AUX?
I'm assuming I'm prewired so I didn't order the other harness (COR-HAR, I believe). Perhaps I need that?
For proper operation of the GM10-AUX, the factory CD changer, if present, will need to be disconnected from the stock harness. The GM10-AUX plugs in at the back of your car after you unplug the CD changer from the stock harness.
You can only use one or the other, but not both at the same time.
Can I ask what you plan on doing with the changer? If you want to sell it, I might be interested in purchasing it from you.
The GM10 Aux box will only plug into the existing cable you remove from the changer. If you don't have the factory changer installed, there's another cable required. Also I believe the battery should be disconnected when you install the GM10. Hooking up the battery restores the proper configuration.
I got the box to work plugged into the cable I removed from the changer in the back. Unplugging the battery appears to be a necessity ... it didn't work until I did that. Until I figure out where the damn cable is up front, I'll just deal with the cable coming over the center console!
I noticed that I had to turn the volume all the way up on the iPod to equal the radio volume. Is this expected?
ok sounds like im gonna need this for my XM install. where does one get this GM10-aux cable? also, where is best place to get the CD changer harness as i do not have this in my car already. thanks.
All I needed was the GM10-AUX since I have the CD changer. You may need the GM_COR-HAR.
I was never able to find where to connect the GM10-AUX in the passenger footwell, so I just connected it in the back and got a long Y-connector to plug in my iPod. Not the cleanest installation, but it works!
