I have the stock cd changer in the back and know I need the GM10-AUX. I know the IPOD is popular but heard someone mention a keg or something (hard drive). I am still not clear on one thing with the IPOD since I don't own one. Do I need to have the IPOD within grasp to select my songs or can I do it through the head unit with the IPOD in the trunk. Is there something better out there yet. I AM NOT INTERESTED IN THE XM/SIRIUS THING! Just want to listen to my MP3's thru the stock HU or
Second question, is there an easy to install, economical, MP3 playing HU available. If someone is going to suggest one could you please include all the little cables and thingys that will be required to install this. I am not one of those people that has an ear for music. I don't turn the volume to 10 and need a lot of bass. I just like to listen to my tunes. Thanks for any help you can provide.
I have an iPod connected directly to my Sony HU. I ran the cable through the ashtray area, so I can tuck it away when I want. When it is connected, I usually just lay the iPod on the seat or put it into the cupholder.
The purpose of the GM-10 AUX cable is to let you have an alternate connection into the GM Delco HU for another source (iPod, XM, etc.). The cable allows the CD player in the back to continue sending an "I'm here" signal to the HU, so that the HU allows you to switch to your alternate source.
The big advantage to the iPod is that you can take it anywhere - it's not tied to your car.
