My entire knowledge about car stereo is stick the CD in and turn the volume up. That's it, so please use small words with few syllables.
I've got the stock Bose CD radio in my 98 C5. I want to be able to play CD's that I burn on my PC with MP3 files. I do NOT want to rip out the stereo and put new speakers in and so forth. Is there some kind of adapter I can use to do this?
No there is no adaptor that will allow your factory radio to play MP3 files. Your choices are replace the factory radio, live without MP3, or add an external device that plays MP3. Like a FM modulated CD changer that plays MP3. Or a changer that plays MP3 through your factory changer input.
Either way you will have to have another piece of electronics to the car to allow you to play MP3s.

That's fine. What do I get to "or add an external device that plays MP3. Like a FM modulated CD changer that plays MP3. Or a changer that plays MP3 through your factory changer input"?
Now in your message you stated that you wanted to listen to mp3s with your stock system, not for your stock system to play mp3s DIRECTLY. Just use Nero to burn cd's with your favorite MP3's on em. I live in an area with absolute crappy radio stations, so I always depended on my stock bose CD player for music, of which i burned on my home PC all the time.....in fact, I would just get tired of the CD I last burned, throw it away, and burn a new CD of the latest tunes I liked for that week. All I did was get a peer to peer data sharing program to download free MP3's and burn them to cd, then pop the cd in stock bose cd player in my 92 C4, and off I went...jamming to my stock bose stereo, till i got so sick of listening to crappy bose components that I ripped em all out and replaced it with all Alpine speakers and head unit, which was the best decision I ever made, and it didnt cost me over 500 bucks.
all in all, Nero Burning Rom software is all you need to convert your mp3's into burnable audio. If ya need help getting a copy of Nero, just leave me a Private message, i can direct you where ya can get a copy.
