Alpine KCA-420I Installation

I just had the title unit installed in my 89 Ford E-150 van this morning. I have another one that will be installed in the C5 at a later point in time. The install was fairly straightforward & the cord to the iPod comes out near the environmental controls. The one thing that really bothered me was that even though I had an AI head unit it didn't have the capabilities to process the info from the iPod so I had to buy another head unit.
Buying a new head unit for a 14 year old van just sucked. The other thing that bothered me is that the new head unit will not work with the cd changer & the iPod. Its one or the other. So I went with the iPod. Soon I will have a useless 6 disc & 12 disc changers.
Bear that in mind if you are upgrading your Alpine system. I'd post pics but I'm sure no one wants to see pics of a black cord.
I think that I'm going to have the cord come out in the center console of the C5 & eliminate the accessory plug, which is useless anyways.

it is not compatiable with older AI net...
interested in selling one of your changers???
PM me about which one you're interested in.

Apparently all of the 2004 models are made to interface with the iPod as well.
