Default Stereo Woes...

Ok guys so I'm puzzled right now. I did some work on my baby today, plugs, air filter, brakes, oil, etc. I got everything finished and on the way back from a friend's house my stereo just takes a crap on me.

I'm running a 12 inch woofer powered by an MTX amp, and some ozz audio components powered by an Arc audio amp. Both amps are grounded at the same position. Both amps have the power LED powered up.

I immediately think power. Well the power LED is up. The ground is shared and the bass is actually playing. Wtf?

I thought maybe I considered that maybe I was acting like a chump again and had muted the stereo. Nope. The sub is still playing.

I've turned the cd player off and on a bunch and hit the manual reset button her it. No dice.

Any advice?

I've got a JVC SHKD-99. It's the first JVC that played MP3's. Yah it's old and ghetto lookin' now but it plays and does what I need.

Lets split this problem down.
With the stereo off, put the RCA cable that goes to the problem amp into the sub amp. Turn on the stereo. If your sub still works then your problem is the Arc amp. If the sub doesn't work, the problem lies upstream. Do you have an active crossover between the HU and the Arc amp, the fuse could have gone on that as well. Let us know what you find.
PS Some amps have internal fuses. Those can be in the power supply and/or fuses on the speaker outputs.

Hey thanks for the great advice. I dunno why I didn't think of that.

Anyhow... I did exactly as you said and switched the RCAs for each amp. The sub didn't play. ( whew, I had been looking at amps and man I just dont wanna spend any $$ right now). Since the RCA was obviously not sending a signal I hoped maybe it had come loose from the back of the deck. I took apart the dash and noticed it had come loose. The "teeth" on the RCA was bent so I must've bent that while mucking around one day. Anyhow, I squeezed the "teeth" and it held on to the RCA out jack on the back of the deck.

Problem solved.

Thanks!
