I use the Garmin 2620. It's a portable unit, so It sits on my dash when I need it, and in my house when not. IMHO, It is without a doubt the best portable unit out there.
I'd like to install a Navigation system in my C5 Vert
Can anyone offer me any suggestions?
will the Nav system from a C6 fit in the dash?
mrgil
Alpine is said to have one of the best interfaces and nav software, it's a flip up screen and will fit with a mounting plate (do a search for vrum-vrum's mounting plate, it looks to be the best one you can get for the c5)
The c6's nav probably wouldn't be as good as an aftermarket one and probably cost you more.
If you dont mind paying for the extra labor and you want a flush screen that will look more oem try looking at the eclipse avn2454. It's touchscreen and has a great interface and great sound quality. I've never had this unit but i have owned eclipse headunits in the past and they are great. If i were going this route, i would definately get the eclipse over the alpine.

I have the Alpine unit in two vehicles and was thinking about putting it in one of the Vette's. I have seen it installed and it looks great. My only issues with the Alpine in Cost and they don't update their nav CD's often enough. The Pioneer mentioned above is a really good looking unit and has been getting some good press plus is less costly than the Alpine.

any pics of the eclipse? i want a navi too... i want it to look OEM..
Computer incar nav is totally doable. I was checking out a windows based in car computer system with nav in a C5 last weekend...pretty sweet. Do a search for in car computers. As for your standard aftermarket nav. The AVIC N1 is the best bang for the buck out there hands down. Alpine and a few others are very nice but dollar for dollar the N1 takes the prize. As for the C6 going into the C5...forget about it.

At present I don't have a CD changer hooked up. I have an old Pioneer CDT-FM633S which I took out of the truck. It had an error code when I took it out so not sure if its fully ooperational. It may not even be compatible.
I cahnge the disks as needed. Bit of a pain but workable.
I really dont mean to hijack this post but is there any way to run a navigation system through a computer in your car?? sorry again...
Sure it's very easy and pretty straight forward. I will be integrating this into my car hopefully by the end of the month. I have all the computer components, the touchscreen vga monitor and the amp, i'm just waiting on building the case and purchasing the speakers. I'll do a full write up on my installation when i finally finish.

Yeah I just got my setup today. I got an Earthmate GPS (USB) w/ mapping software. I've played around with it....It's pretty amazing. I can't wait to get it fixed up in the vette.
