I have a Phoenix Gold Titanium amp (with a big fan on the top) and it's starting to show its age a bit so I would like to give it a fresh look. I was wondering how the cooling properties of the amp will be affected if i was to powdercoat or chrome the case. Has anyone had experience with this?

I've seen plenty of amps powder coated and chromed. It should not impact performance at all assuming you don't block any of the cooling channels. There are also some amps that look very cool with the cover removed. Usually they will be installed under plexi with a cooling fan for a different kind of look.
Since it is fan cooled, I think you'll be okay. Post before and after pics please
Well i emailed pg tech support just to make absolutely sure, but if they say it's ok what should i do? Chrome, powder coat or match the color of my car?
I'd go with power coat to accent color of the interior. Getting it to perfecly match the exterior color will be difficult. If it is close, but not exact, it looks bad and will stick out like a poorly painted quarter panel.
I was thinking of having it prof. painted with car paint, not trying to match the color with powdercoating. So with that in the mix...would you still go with an accent color or no?
There is a problem with powder coating and chrome plating an amp. That problem is the dissasembly and reassembly of the amplifier. Your PG amp should not have that problem because I believe nothing is mounted to the casing other than the board. But some amps have parts mounted to the heat sink. Those have to removed and reinstalled just right or the amp will blow. Wet painting the amp (car paint) you can just mask it and not take it apart. Otherwise you should have no problems with any of those finishes on an amp.
