C6 stereo makeover
I think I'm more excited to pick up the car now than when it first rolled into the dealership. I haven't had real sound on the road since thieves absconded with the MD changer from my Integra in 1999.
I'll get pics up tomorrow night when I get home. If I ever get out of the car.

Thanks again JP.
Thanks again JP.
I'd love to see some install pics. Also, what kind of amps are you running?
Here's the Dension DH-100ix deck and a full-DIN pocket (from a Porsche). The deck might have looked better centered, but this puts it right at hand, and the ashtray is so small that, dammit, I wanted a pocket. This also leaves me with a full DIN for future expansion.
Note the console is filled in around the deck and pocket and painted black. It fingerprints like crazy, but it's worth it. The "spots" you see near the flash (sorry) are not apparent sitting in the car. The deck protrudes slightly from the console to compensate for the curvature of the climate control.
The sub enclosures are a marvel. Each is two pieces: a fiberglass tub topped with a ring of MDF, filling the rear cargo pocket and flush with the floor, open to a fiberglass-and-MDF "box" enclosing the JL Audio subwoofer, covered with satin-finish vinyl. I almost didn't post these pics because the amp cover isn't there yet and these don't look like much, but the sub enclosures have more curves than Rita Hayworth and have to be seen on their own.
Yes, those are ten inches, and yes, the top still locks in place above them:
The amp is an Audison LRx 5.600. The Dension head unit (probably the weakest component in the system) lacks separate sub output so there's a small dial tucked in the corner of the center console to adjust the subwoofer output.
Focal Polyglass V2 130CV in the B-pillars, and Focal K2 Power 165KP in the doors, all behind the stock grilles. (I think -- I don't have the component list handy.) The doors got a layer of Dynamat while they were skinned.
These photos don't do the work justice. Everything is beautiful, and I'll be doing my best to capture it better this weekend. I'll also put up a couple of work-in-progress shots the installer sent me.
The Dension deck is, for me, as cool as it gets. Every CD I own -- about 500 -- is now in my car, with room for another 400 or so before I'll need to upgrade to a bigger (standard 2.5" IDE notebook) drive. I'll post more on it later once I've had a chance to exercise it.
How's it sound? Well... I'm no audiophile. My previous systems consist of a 2001 coupe's stock cassette player, a 1996 Integra's stock speakers with a Sony 4x25 amp (Sony MDX-400 in-dash MD changer), and a 1989 Isuzu I-Mark with Sony 5" coaxials up front and Sony 6x9" coaxials in back (same amp and deck as the Integra).
I don't know what was wrong with the C6's Bose setup; I just know it didn't sound right. I kept fiddling with it, searching for better sound, and never found it. It was plenty loud, but... my favorite music lacked enthusiasm.
I didn't want to apologize for the sound in my car ever again. Mission accomplished. It's tighter than Jessica Simpson on her wedding night. And when the amp gets its dress on Friday, it'll be almost as drool-worthy.
And it's a good thing I like Top Ramen, because that's all I'm going to be eating for a year.

Several people have asked about it, so I'll post a new thread on it specifically when I get a chance.
