Default Help with Alpine Install

I own a 97 coupe, and have an Alpine model CDA-9827. It has a wire, orange I believe, that should connect to an illumination lead so that the face of the unit will dim when the lights are turned on. There is no wire that connects to the orange wire out of the factory connected harness. Does anyone have a suggestion of how to get this function to work and what wire I need to splice into? Is there an illumination lead close by
i can use?

Don't fuss with it.

I have never attached a dimmer wire in my life! Then again, not many actually have one!

I suspect to do so, you will need a harness breakdown. I am sure there is one on the radio harness, but the adaptor more than likely does not include it.

I believe the illumination is controlled through the BCM like the ignition wire. I have tagged the illumination wire on the the fog light switch.

Default test

just a quick question related to the dimmer-illumination wire would the voltage sent to the wire vary with brightness or if not voltage what would vary up or down depending on the switch position

I tried the link to corvette wires, and the gray wire may be the one. Otherwise, there is no dimmer wire apparently.
