antenna eliminator?

antenna eliminator?
is it possible to hook up additional antenna wire to the signal lead and run it under the rear glass weather strip (or somethere else) so that i don't have to keep buying $20 ribbons for my power antenna? i know its not a hard project, i'm just tired of doing it. plus GM gives me the run around, saying that the ribbon doesn't exist and i have to buy a whole new unit. also, i just like the way the car looks with the antenna down.
any suggestions?

how about a ribbon antenna or a hidden microwave induced antenna?

Ive only owned the 2nd type, the stick on ribbon. I really dont play the radio all that much in the first place, But it did pick up stations in Louisville (about 40 miles from here) with no sweat. I dont remember it being over 20 bucks for it, but that was back in 95. And im sure it works the same as it did then, not like there has been a quantum leap in antenna design in the past 15 years.
