stock speaker specs
can anyone give me the stock speaker specs for my car? its a 96 with the delco bose gold system. i was looking at aftermarket speakers yesterday but i dont want to go all out and get an amp and sub. i just want as high of quality speakers as an alpine head unit will play

unfortunatly i didnt see what info i was looking for although there was more then enough there about other things! i want to know about power. it may be different than most since they have a amp with each speaker but im curious how many watts each speaker was and about teh RMS of each. im curious how they compare to some speakers im looking at getting

I am not sure but i think you are either going to have to get wiring adapters to adapt the new head unit to the stock speakers or rip the whole system out and replace it, the bose system has an amp on each speaker and the speakers operate at a different ohm level that normal audio speakers so its not possible to install aftermarket speakers in the bose pods that i know of, hopefully someone more knowledable will chime in

ummm...I'm not quite sure what you're getting at here...
do you want speaker size? - thats in the faq
want rms power specs for the stock speakers? - frankly thats irrelevant
if all you want to do is replace the h/u and speakers just get your alpine h/u and some decent speakers like infinity or MB quart from crutchfield....

so basically after i get an alpine head unit ANY aftermarker speaker is going to be better assuming its a good brand? im looking at spending about 100 bucks a speaker(retail) if i can get them cheaper on ebay then so be it.

yes, any aftermarket speaker (well...any that you'll be spending $100 on) will be a huge upgrade...
do you mean $100 per speaker? as in $400 for speakers, or $100 per pair?
I think you'd probably be happy with infinitys, jbls, or polks...those are all decent speakers and can be had for about $250 for all 4

I'll throw out a couple of suggestions for an upgrade in a reasonable price range. That is, if your interested. Im really just trying to help.
$150 CDT Audio CL-61A 6-1/2" (would need to cut a bit on the bose pod to make it fit, but it would be worth it. or fab your own front plate)
or
$59 CDT Audio CL-4X 4" (Just a little bit of speaker hole arrangement or adapter)

thanks for the input! my finances arent what i thought they were going to be right now so it may take al ittle longer than i thought but i will keep those in mind and check them out soon
