Default Subs in rear storage compartments

I'm thinking of taking the plastic buckets out of the two rear compartments and having some boxes built to put some subs in place of it. Has anyone done this and possibly have pics of the outcome? If not, is there a reason no one has done it? Let me know guys, thanks!

should work, you don't have to much to work with so boston acoustics brand would sound good and give you lots of bass, you just need some place to put your jack if you want.

I was thinking just leave the jack at home, but right when I leave it there... first day out I'll have a flat tire, LOL.

BTW, how much of the car panels am I going to tear up replacing door speakers, rear speakers, and doing the subs how I want? Would I be better off getting it professionally done?

You can store the jack with the spare tire(if you still have it). There is a jack spring available(usually on ebay) that will hold the jack to the spare.

this belongs in the audio section...

in the C4 audio faq there is a link to an install of a 10" sub in the passenger side compartment; this has been done.

you probably can't put one in the drivers side because of the abs computer thats in there. really the only way to go is with the 2 8"s or 1 10" in the passenger compartment (unless you don't mind a big box sitting in the hatch)

if you use the stock speaker wires, only a few screws you have to pull, so you won't tear anything up. Sub wise will be a little more difficult you have to pull the center console apart, and run in there and under the dash to the engine by way of around the battery, so that's a little more difficult. And proffesionally I don't know, if you are proficient with hand tools I would do it, I did it in a couple hours, running satalite radio, dolby digital, lcd monitor new speaker wire, and a power and grounding wire to the battery with a new head unit, so it's defrinitly possible if you don't feel like paying a few hundred dollars

I have a 10" Alpine in the rear center storage compartment of my C5 and it's plenty of bass.

He has a C4, so he will have to either use a prefabed box (currently not available for another month) or make his own enclosure either out of Fiber/MDF, the frame of the car in conjunction with Fiber, MDF, or MDF and alot of polyfoam in a can. No easy C4 solution at this time, unless you put an ugly box in the back like these guys did :

I could go on... I could also probably start a website for awful C4 subwoofer installs.

Oh man, I could go on. When I first bought my 2nd vette, my 86, I went on a total search of the internet to find any c4 subwoofer install I could find, and I have collected like 80 pics of good and bad installs. Im putting up my own website in about a week, and im seriously considering adding a ugly C4 install page. Ive got lots of content. Also, i'll be adding my own car to that list too, since mine is totally awful right now. And my dad was nice enough to fry an amplifier while digging for some tools in my car, and dropped a pair of pliers on the amp, bridiging the ground wire to the speaker output. SMOKE!!!!!!

oh well, at least I get to buy an amp of my choice now. Hell of a way to upgrade.

here is a couple more awful ones for your viewing pleasure....

now here is one, I like ALOT... Mainly cause its simple. And its an Alpine R 12"

And a couple of other ones I liked

I liked this one for the fact that he had the ***** enough to shove two 15's back there, but the amp portal was awful.
