New sale/trade sub-section for AutoX/Road Racing
Several of you have requested that we set up a for sale/trade sub-section here in the AutoX/Road Racing section and that has been done as a test to see whether it is beneficial. At the same time, we’re experimenting with a software feature which requires designating a prefix on a thread in the section – either [For Sale], [Trade] or [Wanted].

All existing sale/trade threads in the AutoX/Road Racing section will be moved to the new sub-section, including those posted by vendors. The exception is the sticky thread previously used for transactions:

Going forward, please use the sale/trade sub-section, rather than the sticky thread previously used for transactions. We will leave the above-referenced sale/trade sticky thread open for a period of time so those of you with pending offers can copy them and paste them into a separate sale thread in the new sub-section. We’ll lock that sticky thread in about a week.
After a period of time, we’ll evaluate the effectiveness of the section and the requirement that prefixes be added to each thread.

A step in the right direction. I'd suggest going one further and separating vendor from private sales for easier browsing. When I'm shopping for new parts I don't need to see private sales and vice versa.

Agree...most other auto forums do this. I want to support forum vendors but sometimes it's not worth weeding through all the postings to find what I need.

The software is set to require a prefix when you post a new thread in the classified section. Those without such prefixes, for now, are old threads that have been bumped or threads that have been moved from the general discussion section.

Former Vendor
From the vendor side I see pros and cons.
The good is that it cuts down on the for sale ads in the racing section. Of itself I thought was questionable but others were so I opted to partake as well. I was leery of posting and starting threads for being scolded for it.
On the other hand it's one more constant "bump and run" section for vendors to compete with product. Why do they (we) do that? Because the majority of potential buyer simply don't browse the vendor sections all that much. And when they do everyone wants to be seen and heard. I get that. I fear it's only a matter of time before this section becomes an extension of the others... but maybe we can reach more potential buyers this way too. Time will tell.
