What are your opinions on RCI and G-Force SA2005 helmets? Those brands seem to be in my price range. I know, I know, a $100 helmet for a $100 head BUT asside from that...
I've been buying helmets for 35 years. Whole bunch of marketing going on! I always buy the least expensive I can find provided it has a current rating such as SA2005 AND is comfortable. As long as they earn the independent lab certification such as SA or Snell you are good to go. Don't buy the hype is my advise.
I had a G-Force helmet and used it for a while, then picked up a Simpson helmet - the Simpson is lighter and much more comfortable so it's worth the extra money
I have a G-Force SA 2000 pro force one helmet. I like it. I do not have a basis for comparison. A friend tryed about 4 different helmets and ended up with the G-Force as it fit the best. This is probably individual based on the shape of his head.
Try on helmets if you can. I tried on Bell, Simson and Arsi helmets as well.
The G-Force fit the best on my head best.
Get a FULL face helmet too with eye shield. I have had track turds( pieces of rubber off tires) fly into my window and bounce off my chin gaurd and eye shield. plus who knows home many bugs come in the window and hit my eye shield too. Yes I ware glasses.
I also had an unfortunite chance to visit a tire wall in the rain on the drives side door. the tire wall bent in my mirror and the mirror glass popped out, flew into my chin gaurd and then landed on the right side of the dash. The glass did not brake.
If I had an open face helmet my chin would have been severly damaged or broken.

Go fast it's possible. What is my fate or anyone's fate with a blown tire at Pocono at 160+ coming to the tunnel turn? Cage or no cage not good. So when you step in know the consequences.

Well said, John....
This is a serious Hobby, given the speeds these cars are running at today!
