Anyone from here attending HPDE at Putnam on Oct. 17th?
I was just wondering if anyone else from this forum was going to be at the HPDE event at Putnam Park (Indiana) on Oct. 17th? Thought it might be a good chance to meet some new faces from here.

Plans A, A2, and B for Tech for Putnam HPDE
Most of the respondents here will be attending as instructors ... but for anyone coming as a student, ... Tech - Better Tuesday than Wednesday!
I know that we all want to get the processing out of the way early ... and plan to get to the venue early enough to do so. However, ... knowing that sometimes "stuff" happens and we can't make our schedules ... Roc has offered a "Plan A2" for those that miss the "Plan A" tech ending at 5:30 PM on Tues at the Event HQ Hotel but get there shortly after. (and he has a "Plan B" ... tech at the track Wed AM for those who get totally "off track" on Tues ... (and that delay may cost one the first session while in tech) Here's the deal (and IMHO it's an extremely fair deal ...
"We would like to clarify the tech procedure for the Putnam Park DE on Wednesday October 17th at Putnam Park. The scheduled tech session is at the HQ hotel from 3-5:30pm on Tuesday 10/16. [Plan A] There will be a break for supper and then registration will continue. If there is sufficient light, tech will continue [Plan A2] but we can't guarantee we can do all cars that first show up after supper. Those who cannot be teched will have to have that done on Wednesday at the track. They will need to arrange this with their instructor prior to getting their car on the track.
To maximize track time for all participants including instructors, we have kept the run groups small and have a minimum number of instructors. That means there is a limited volunteer tech crew available on Tuesday. On Wednesday, there will be a short window for tech between 7:15 and 7:40am. [Plan B] Instructors have first run session right after the All Hands meeting and with them having 2 students, the only other time available will be during the student's run session.
Tech is done as one more thing by volunteer instructors who already give time and car use. They can't tech in the dark or be expected to give up their run time because someone didn't want to arrive early enough for the scheduled tech session. We STRONGLY suggest that students get to the Tech station on Tuesday and not risk losing run time on Wedenesday.

My note to self is ... arrive in time to complete tech and registration before 5:30 ... and if I have a problem ... call the Hotel and let someone know I'll be late, so they know.
Oh ... on a closing note ... REMEMBER to get your pre-tech forms completed and signed off by a mechanic/shop (not by you!) AFTER 9/17 (within 30 days of event ...
