Can we try to work on the punctuation, spelling and grammar?
PLEASE! Some of these posts are getting almost painful to read. Some are nearly incomprehensible.
Here's one example (not the worst I've seen, but close.)
"I have a Traqmate i considered the G-tech for the price but new i would wana upgrade. The traqmate also works for AutoCross to if thats what you want data for also. and they are always comeing up with firmware updates that don't cost a person extra"
This is not caused by a lack of education. It's just extreme sloppiness.
I think everyone would agree that the following sentences are much easier to read, and speak much better of the author.
"I have a Traqmate. I considered the G-Tech for the price, but I knew I would want to upgrade. The Traqmate also works for autocross, if you want data for that. They are always coming up with free firmware updates too."
I'm putting on my flame-proof suit now.

I try to use correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation because I want to keep in practice. I do not always succeed. I write many e-mails at work which I expect to be in appropriate format. I expect it of my staff as well. But I don't worry about what others do on forums and in personal e-mail.
Try to "reed 4 kontent", as one of my friends suggests.
Clearly you understood what the writer intended, since you translated it.

Normally I am just reading for content. I definitely am not trying to grade each post like an English teacher. However, when I read the example above, it was so awful that I just had to say something. It looks like I'm not alone. So far the poll says 5 agree and 0 disagree.

FWIW, I can deal with most of what's written, but I may not like it.
I view proper grammar and spelling as a sign of respect for those who want to waste their time reading my posts. I owe them a little of my time to clean it up for easy understanding.

I just skip the posts without punctuation, spelling, and grammar. I automatically discount the poster, and I would never buy anything from someone posting for sale items if they can't communicate clearly. I don't know why, but I just don't trust them.
The only thing worse is reading the inmates incoming mail at the jail. Sometimes it's so annoying it gives me a headache trying to translate ghetto speak into English.
Poorly written posts are the same as the jail mail for me. Maybe that's why I don't trust people who can't write or communicate clearly, "ya feel me."

At least it wasnt in all caps talking in runon sentences that could go on and on and on for fore hundred words....
Geeze, I had a hard time even writing that.
EDIT: Interesting, the editor put in simple Upper/lower case text when my entry was posted. Which implies that what you're reading could actually have been typed in WORSE than what you saw!

There are quite a few others.
1) "Would of" instead of "would've" (would have)
2) I like that "to" (instead of "too")
3) This is "do" (instead of "due) to poor grammar
4) "Loose" and "lose". The nut is loose. You can lose your mind with these screwy posts.
5) "Affect" (usually a verb) and "effect" (usually a noun)
I could go on, but you get the idea.
Our education system is letting us down. Some of these mistakes are because children were told to "sound it out". If it sounds OK, then it must be correct, NOT!!!
Rant mode is now OFF.

It seems "then" and "than" are (mis) used as well. Ever since I started using a MacBook Pro with Safari, it makes me check every post. In addition to punctuation, spelling and grammar, how about using the proper terms as well? My pet peeve is the way silicon and silicone are misused. If anyone advertises that they are using high silicone aluminum I immediately think that they are ignorant. Also, there is no such thing as silicon RTV sealant. They are VERY, VERY different materials and are not interchangable terms.

I don't read or write so well. Sorry, I spent too much time in the shop growing up. It's funny because my twin brother has wrote books, and speaks three languages very well. But can't change a spark plug or know it's function in the internal combustion engine.
Did you know my very first post on the Corvette Forum, someone corrected and set it back? It was like english class all over again
I'm getting better, and my typing speed is improving also.

Whilst perusing blogs here and there, I've found that some people like to form the contraction of "you all" as:
ya'll
This is annoying, not only because it is wrong, but because it shows an appalling lack of understanding about the function of the apostrophe. The apostrophe stands in place of letters that are not spelled out in full - thus, "you all" should become:
y'all
You'll still come off sounding like a hick*, but an educated hick.
