Experiencing the controlled slide is one thing, but those high speed sweeps are completely different and actually seem more risky to me.

Nope, can't say in 4th I've been brave enough to do T3 or T8 at full throttle -- close but I don't think I was touching the floorboard yet (only the superbrave ex-pilot types like Varkwso that have nerves of steel can do that). I'm the wuss of the bunch only tapping 110 through there.

Glad you had fun Ken and an addict like the rest of us....

You got to love fast high speed corners.

Jeff is the expert at Roebling, he has all of the turn speeds memorized.

In a c5z, somewhere in the low 150's, I shift from 4th to 5th at the start finish line. In my C6z, redline in 4th, I think I saw 163, that is with stock tires. Race tires may get you more.

Roebling is not one of the longest straights, but one of the fastest. I believe that it is the fastest I have gone on any track, but I have never pushed the C6z on others. It has a fast turn entering the straight.

VIR longer straight, but slow turn, and uphill
Road Atlanta, slow turn entering
etc.

It is actually a bit tricky and counter-intuitive to drive correctly. I

Ran it once in my Mustang which is a 99 GT with nearly stock engine and stock gears. I was hitting 130 at the braking point also. Rode with a friend in his track only Mustang and he was touching 150. I do have Cobra brakes with cooling ducts and I was running on V710s so that all helped the lowly stang get there.

I can only reach 135 at Road Atlanta. Those 3.27:1 gears and 260HP don't get it done.

Yeah I know this is a Vette forum but hope you guys don't mind a Ford owner lurking about.

Here's a couple of RR vids if interested.

Tim the passenger in your avatar picture is my brother and he will be glad to confirm that Tim saw north of 160 in the Z06. He also said wonderful driving but never ever again in a car with no cage.

One of Jeff's students who I also rode with in a stock black C5 Z06 was pulling 135 with plenty of braking room left.

My tired and trusty somewhat stock C4 will eek out 128 on fresh tires. I tend to take it easy through T8, that wall has way too much color on it for my liking.

My top speeds going into the brake zone with C6 Z51, stock tires and brakes has been about 140, 4th Gear, no shifting, I'm still working on my nerve coming off turn 8 and into the brake zone, turn 1. If I keep my foot in it I ought to be getting 145 in a few more sessions.

The steering pump problem is taken care of. I tend to take it easy coming off of T8 but, a mini tune up seems to have made it a bit faster so never know what the next event will hold. Last event in Oct was very wet, fun but wet!
