NASCAR has purpose built spindles. T1 has to use the Corvette spindle. Without a 14" rotor, that will require a 18" wheel, choices are limited. Wilwood SL6 thin isn't much of an improvement, although the pads are cheaper.

I would love to hear some opinions from more C5 T1 guys on this.

are we allowed to run 18s with 315x4?

Not on C5. 17x10 is the ONLY front allowed. Rear has a few choices.
===============
17x10 (F&R)
or
17x11(R)
18x10.5 (R)
===============
245/45/17
275/40/18
or
315/35/17
(max)(F&R)
Rear tires may protrude up to 1.0” with GM T1 Perf. Susp. pkg.
Max. camber: (F) -3.5 (R) -2.5 with GM suspension pkg.

I just sent a note to Peter Keane linking to this thread asking about allowing 6-piston calipers so we can keep the CCW Classics on the C5.

Some should contact John at CCW to let him know the rule changes.

That might help him and give some time to design a new wheel

I think the C5 guys should lobby heavily for the 18" wheels and then at least it will be possible to run the calipes of choice with the thickest pads available....although everyone will have to liquidate their wheels ,buy new ones and new brakes ($$$$)

FWIW I have never been impressed by the Wilwood stuff, probably why I have never owned any........I have sampled them too many times. Very pleased with my StopTech stuff....

Yup, the way I see it, if you're going to spend the money buying new wheels, it'd be silly to get 17's again. 18's give you the option for larger rotors in the future, and thicker calipers in the present.

Plus which 18's will not be an inherent improvement, tires sizes will remain the same dimensionally (at least with Hoosier), albeit the tires will cost a little bit more..

Versatility and options.......thats what they need . Unless the SCCA has stock in a particular brake company ...............

John @ CCW will love all of this

The ST is a fine caliper, but not really for a T1 car. The ST has aluminum pistons and dust seals for street use, both of which are not needed/wanted in a race car caliper, and does not have the anti-kickback springs. In any case, we are still constrained by wheel clearance and the dumb 4 piston thing.

While the brake change is welcome and needed if we are buying new wheels and new brakes there is another $6500 bucks just to get started. Add another $3000 for the second set of wheels that's $10k by the time you ship it all, install it all new brake lines etc. Well...that should be fun. I hope there is a 17" solution and we could escape with a sub $4000 bill. Gee going out and buying a new Z06 and just running trackdays is looking pretty cheap and way less abusive to the wallet than feeding the T1 animal and I have barely started. I think I have to go ask my boss for a raise!

Wow!

I don't know what to say...

SCCA does what you want by allowing a brake upgrade, and some people are complaining that they may have to buy new wheels...yet the same people have no issue with completely redoing the car to fit another class...
