Default Funny thing at VIR (now, anyway)..

There I was strapped in the passenger seat coaching my driver at the NCM event this summer accelerating away from Oak Tree when I felt a sharp, piercing pain in my left arm pit. OUCH! It really started to burn badly. After a few seconds I realized a bee/wasp/hornet or whatever had flown into my short sleeve shirt. Unable to adjust my position to remove the critter, I just sat there and hoped it would end soon. I don't think the tears in my eyes were from the wind as we approached 140. After I regained a little composure, I informed my driver of the situation and he said it looked as though the 'whatever' was now flying around in the back. After we came into the pits I asked him if there was a welp as I raised my sleeve. Yep! a huge one! I guess just another argument for long sleeves.

Wow, that really sucks.

Did you stay out the entire session after being stung? If so, instructor of the year award for you.

Hey, be happy at 140mph that you were stung and not your student!

Glad you can laugh about it now.

Watched two guys , went to run down the second guy . 90 plus degrees , tires were toast & hand went numb ....Lowsided in T1 Managed to pick the bike up , collar bone was busted (5 peices) Got it back to the pits , got on my 750 and did the last Novice class . Students didnt ever know . 8 week vacation
I hate that gixxer 1000 , been sittting in the back for almost 4 years now .

Good job toughing that one out! I have been stung twice this year doing yard work, I don't know if it is because I am getting older or wasps or getting meaner. But it hurts like hell

Default Why No Shorts

This is why we are not allowed to wear shorts at the track !!

Arm pit is one thing the other is another.

Well, after a couple of more laps it was kinda like the cartoon of sitting in a bucket of cold water when your butt catches fire, "Man that feels so much better". Anyone else had any funny/unusual instances on the track?

I had a student that took a right before the bridge at RA (before 12) and took the "drift pad" circle. It was a fun scenic circle ride

I had another student at road atlanta that kept wanting to turn down the motorcycle section in the esses, even after 2 days and who knows how many laps i was about to the point where I was gonna say "next session I'm going to hold a 35" Easton alum bat in my lap, and if i even see you flinch toward that road, I'm going to smash your fingers on the steering wheel."
