Passion, Addiction - What's the difference
I remember when my 1999 FRC was a street car:
I wanted it to look different, so I bought some wheels off of Ebay:
I added RED brake calipers, and new rotors:
I even cut out the brake ducting, and added a ZO6 emblem:
This hobby is fun, and so inexpensive. Another purchase off of Ebay:
Not different enough, so I added some custom paint with a black stripe:
Now she can't risk damage in the garage, so I build a 4th car, and put in a lift:
Having fun, but needed more - I joined Autobahn Country Club:
That's cool, but I need safety, and changed the Ebay wheels for Fikses:
Along the way, changed trans, diff, radiator, added Brembos, coolers, fire-suppression . . .
Now those seats are too squishy, here come the Sparcos, and a cage.
So I start 'Member Racing' at the club:
And that's alot of fun, but no surprise "not enough", so I try Road America (with Short-Throw before the paint job).
Did I mention the 3-days at BONDURANT in Phoenix?
Want to save money in this hobby, play INSTRUCTOR, and meet some really cool people:
Towing to Autobahn isn't an option, and 'rental' seems to be a waste of money. Let's build a garage (with buddy Short-Throw) so we can have more fun:
Well, the wife already isn't happy, and borrowing is a problem. I need a trailer to haul the car to 'other' tracks:
The wifes Escalade can't do the job, so "THE DUALLY" was born:
Damn, that Vette is fun to drive. If I only had some downforce:
Thanks to Black Dog Speed Shop for the new front end and rear wing!
Now that we have a trailer and a tow, it's time to go to VIR:
Hey, when the Vette is broken, I'll need a 'BACK-UP' car:
With all that downforce, I think I need more motor:
Thanks Jason - you're part of the problem!
So here we are - Black Dog Speed Shop installing today:
What is the difference? I'm home nearly every night, don't drink, don't smoke, and I can sell all of this when I'm done (for at least 50% more than I paid for it) . . . and . . .

When you put it chronologically it sounds much worse.

passion is having fun and loving it. Addiction is when you spend more than you have or running a car affects other parts of your life.

Don,
I must be very passionate... I have done so many things to my car, trailer, tow rig, etc... I've lost count.
Thanks for showing us we are not alone in our passion/addiction.

Great post Don!
I laughed and cried while reading it.
What you have modestly failed to mention is you have kept up on track with much faster cars while running stock power as you are a great driver. Your latest mod will let the majority of drivers out there enjoy your taillights.
