Default tire size question

How would running an R6 285/30/18 (height 24.73) on the front of my Z06 change the balance of the car compared to the 275/35/18, (height 25.58) ? Stock size on the rear.

Are you driving the car with any of the driver aids on? If so it will start to upset the active handling of the car the faster it goes as the rolling diameter of the tires are different than what the computer is wanting to see.

It's going to get upset...in Comp mode only TC is turned off. Active Handling is still on so it is still looking for wheel speed feedback.

I understand how TC would care about wheel speed, but why does AH need wheel speed for an input? Isn't it driven off the yaw sensor?

What kind of tolerance do you feel the various years programming offers, Anthony? I've run 295/30r18+305/35r18 (25.0+26.4) on my '06 C6 in daily driving without issue.

Thanks!

Depends on how far off the tires are from factory and how that effects the rolling diameter comparatively front to rear. Also how far off they are as apposed to how fast the car is driven is something else to think about. I had shorter tires on my 2006 car and up to 120 mph it was fine....pushing the car past that it started to get odd at times.

You are right AH works off of yaw, but also wheel speeds. If you are going to run the car on the track...given the section it is posted in....I figure he is going to be sliding around some of the turns, and combine that with wheel speeds that might be off it could pose a problem.

With everything turned off you can run anything you want to on the car and it could care less. Depending on the track and the speeds he may not see any problems with that combo either. There is a chance however.

Thanks Anthony for the info. I will stick with stock size for now.
