Default Autocrossing Roll-bar requirements

Can anyone tell me whether a 4-point or 6-point roll-bar would be legal in most autocrossing events or is a full race cage required???

If you are attending a NCCC autocross you will not need a roll bar as long as you do not fall into the Group 3 class. Things that get you into Group 3 are race only tires (slicks), extensive suspension changes, use of non-Corvette Engine parts or parts not available for the year, lightening of the valve train, porting and polishing the heads, etc. No Cure's car falls into this group however most do not.

Check with the sanctioning body sponsoring the autocross for their particular rules. You don't normally need a rollbar for autocross. But if you have one installed, whether its a bolt-in or welded in may affect the class you run in. Some consider a welded in rollbar as a means to stiffen the body and force you to run a higher class.

Harness bars require that you run a racing harness, otherwise under protestations you will lose. Chassis stiffening if not using belts. If you have belts, then it is legal in stock classes.

On my C3, because of the angle plug heads and aluminum intake, the local NCCC inspector required my to install a blow proof bellhousing and a rollbar. I installed a 4pt welded to the top of the frame rails and haven't had a problem since. IMHO it depends on the inspector sometimes ;) .

For parking lot events and low speed events that is true. However, a rollbar is required if you have a convertable and want to run NCCC high speed events or run faster than 14.0 in the 1/4 mile. Mine is a 4 point welded to the frame.
