Ha, that would be too funny.

For soft hooks one can use some stretch cord to keep the strap retracted into the bumper if there is concern about it flopping around.

I used to think WD-40, Duct tape and Vicegrips were all that were needed for a toolbox... I now realize that Velcro is a cool addition.

You can get a piece of velcro and sew it into the strap... then attach another piece via double sided tape to the plate area. Voila... no more flapping and lose when you need it.

I could build something like that too, but I'd bet the factory part will cost less. Also, those screw in eyebolts have a pretty small opening that will make it difficult or impossible for a huge rope, that track safety oftentimes uses, to pass through. In order to get a large opening a huge (heavy and bulky) shank is used and corresponding mount. They are also more so designed for tie down of equipment. Some of the reasons I prefer a soft strap. In any case, anything can be made. Just depends how much you want to spend.

Funny you should post that - for Fathers Day, my 8 yr old daughter drew me a picture and included the car with what else - a tongue hanging our the front,

May give the velcro a try.

Why not just stuff it in the hole, then get a "TOW" sticker with an arrow.

Basically what I did with the rear on the C4. Only used it once, but the track workers didn't have any difficulty figuring it out.

As of right now, I am looking to put hooks on the C5. I have a Vararam as well so it looks like my only option is through the middle too...

After giving it a test run winching it up on my trailer, I had to cut the hole larger above the strap as the angle was trying to break the cover. It is much easier to hide there now as you can get your hand in there easier. I just hope the extra airflow doesn't hurt my aero.

Where did you get the strap type?

I have a pheonix performance front hook that is hinged. The hook is removable, but I like this better for behind the plate.

Thanks to this thread I too now have a strap. I just keep mine tucked up in the bumper.

Glad to see this is working out for more people. Once I get my straps from Hardbar I'm planning on installing using the same technique.

Well it looks like I might not get my straps from Hardbar, since they have been MIA for a while.

Does anything have another suggestion for a soft hook to put in the front? This RaceQuip unit is looking like a winner:

The one I have on the Frog Racing ZFrog pictured above it the RaceQuip with the metal ring: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/vms-897147/overview/

I would recommend taking the strap with the ring.

What's min length for tow strap through the plate... I'd like as short as possible and still functional.

This one is 9"
