Yeah...rotors are like 1300 and calipers like 400! On a Ferrari they make so few that $20k with labor is a complete R&R pads, rotors, fluids. Corvette economy of scale makes those numbers fall like a rock.

Spring Mountain runs ZR1s don't they? The student cars probably don't see hard use, but they do see lots of track miles.
The folks there are always helpful and it would be one point of information.

As with anything else different people will have different opinions and different results. I have a modded C5z with Big AP's on the front and C6's on the back running Cobalt XP1's. I also have a ZR1. The set up on my C5 seems to have as much(if not more) stopping power however it is much more touchy/violent than the ZR1's brakes.
I just put my(original plus 2) 3rd set of front rotors on my ZR and will put my 2nd set of rears this weekend. In round numbers the fronts rotors are lasting 10 track days and the rears 20. The pads are currently lasting about 2-2.5 track days on the front and about 4 for the rear.
If cost isnt a major factor the biggest issue with the ZR1 brakes is you must do the street brandish for them to work right. This is a major PIA since the timing of needing pads doesnt always line up with ones track schedule.
My C5's brakes feel like a old Mack truck compared to the ZR1's.

Carbotech does make pads for the ZR1 ceramic rotor. I will be happy to help you.

All good buddy. After the first session they wiped away the glazing on the rotor and I had more brake than tire. No brake fade at all. If anything a little tire fade as they got greasy. I wish I had a set of full slicks so I could put them to the test.

We are using the same pads as we use on the steel rotor, so you can use any of the compounds we make. Jason at Katech was the first to test these he did have a problem with the street pad but I think we have worked through that. Than he just tested a set of XP10 with great results hopefully he will chime in. Below is a message he left me.

I glazed my first set of street pads during the rotor burnishing process. Adam got me some XP10s and I took those to Track Attack. As they started to bed in they came in nicely and gave me more brakes than my cup tires could handle. It would be really nice to see what they're like with some Hoosiers. I haven't heard a peep out of them driving around the paddock or on the street when I got back. So far no squeaking even though they are a track pad.

I did 2 days at road atlanta last weekend in my ZR1 and the brakes preformed flawlessly. I am running Castrol SRF in the system and before I head out next time I'll install the brake cooling ducts just for extra insurance.
