FYI: This doesn't work to disable TC on a 98 C5.

Picked up a cream puff 07 Z06, spent 4 months getting it ready for track days, heads, fluids, ducting, pads, etc... and at 150mph ice mode is no joke. I lost confidence from lap to lap, what will I get this time scrubbing off 120mph for a 35mph u turn. I also experienced in competitive driving mode that as the G's increased sometimes I get a violent car induced correction to try and straighten things out. I guess I need to turn everything off, my 2015 Camaro 1LE had better software or something although it iced on me a few times as well. Why cant GM figure the ice mode situation out? 10 years old already.

I am assuming as described in this thread, w/o ABS, ice is gone and OG foot modulation is needed:

Fuse 3 ABS/MRRTD 10 A supplies both the ABS (EBCM) and the Ride Control. The other two fuses 25 and 40 amps are for the ABS (EBCM). Kill the EBCM or the BPMV (gets its power from the EBCM) by pulling those two fuses and you won't have any nannies.

Pulling the connector on the steering sensor just kills AH so you can still use ABS if needed in an emergency (like oil or coolant on the track).

TIA Tom

I too have a Track Box, but I have not hooked it up yet.
I plan to send you a PM involving one question. Hoping that is ok?

I also just acquired a cream puff (6k Miles) a week ago and am in the process of doing the heads, ducting, etc etc in anticipation of some track fun.

I have a couple of questions however...are you saying that you experienced intervention with everything “off” as well?
Or just with active handling ‘on’, say in competitive mode? Isn’t it expected in this mode?

also, re the brakes (ice mode?) were there pavement undulations/ripples in the asphalt?

Just wondering as I still have zero experience with this car.
Thx

I was in competitive mode, to my knowledge you can remove TC and AH, but ABS persists in all situations,

On my boosted C5 ZO6, I pulled the steering position sensor to permanently disable Active Handling.

I have another C5 ZO6 that I'm putting together as a track car. It now has seats/harnesses with the lateral accelerometer removed. It appears that it did the same thing as the other car. Does anyone know if this also kills it, or is there something in the background going on that still requires me to pull the steering position sensor?

I know this is off topic, but slightly relative... I had a shop install a steering rack aluminum bushing from DRM. Since then I get active handling warming up and then service vehicle soon, service active handling.

I drive with traction control set it to off... but the constant message is rather annoying.. and I would rather things work as they are intended to.

Apparently I read in another thread it has to do with the position of the steering column? But how does one reset this?

The car tracks straight... so...

Hey all. I disable active handling by disconnecting the steering wheel sensor but after about 10 min of driving my abs light came on. Is this normal?

Not in my experience. I’ve had mine disconnected for about a year now, all that comes up on the dash is “service active handling.” I push one button to clear the message and it's off to the races.
Leaving the steering wheel sensor plugged in is a widow maker IMHO. If you research this forum enough, I believe that you’ll come to the same conclusion yourself.

I would get a local shop to plug into your OBD port and see what kind of codes are coming up regarding your ABS.

Same here. My steering position sensor has been unplugged on my C5Z since 2014 with only the "service active handling" message popping up.

07 z track car, unplugged the steering sensor and have been running non TPMS valve stems for 2 years, i clear the start up warnings from the dtc and keep racing. No ice mode, to active handling, just a very predictable car.

Love that gear whine and transmission. It sounds good. That rain driving looked intense. My home raceway in Seattle was road coarse and drag strip combined and the front straight of the road course was the drag strip. The drag racers used VHT traction agent on the surface to get maximum grip, but the chemical had the opposite affect in the rain. It made that whole area slicker than grease to drive on. Then the track was lined with trees in the runoff areas along the track. I think T5 had a cliff with railroad tracks down at the bottom that you'd meet if you didn't turn-in in time. That track was not for the faint of heart in the rain, lol.

reviving an old thread....I disconnected the steering wheel sensor last night with good results. AH is off and ABS still works. 2008 Z06 with 3 dead TPMS sensors. I'll replace them once I burn through these tires.

thanks for the tips!

On my 06z it seems that the ah is off but tc is still present.

I heard that you can still cycle through and turn it off with the console button but I had no luck with that - until I took the button off, checked it and found that it wasn’t working.

I took it apart, cleaned it, and now it works. I haven’t been able to check if I can now turn everything off for good but I’ll do that soon.

Bought a 2006 Z06 for 90% track use. I read all of this and see the SPS works great, but I'd prefer no messages/lights if I can avoid them w/ the LG Box. Does the LG Box fully kill AH and the need for TPMS too?
