Road Race / Street clutch
Hey all, I'm getting the z06 ready for HPDE next summer and gonna be doing quite a few mods over the winter. One of which is going to be a lighter flywheel with a lighter clutch with less inertia, and a carbon fiber drive shaft which will eliminate the rubber end couplings. So I'm looking for some suggestions as to what would be a great street / track clutch.
I'm looking for a great fly/clutch combo that will really help the engine rev up faster without breaking the bank which maintains acceptable enough street manners. Just curious what some of you guys who have been tracking their z06 use and maybe some advice as to what not to buy.

Not that I have any complaints with the stock unit but i want something a little lighter to improve acceleration throughout the rpm range. I'm also planning a head/cam build most likely next year mid summer so i want something a bit more power capable. I was just looking at spec clutches which i know is a cheaper company but the stage2 with a aluminum flywheel and billet aluminum clutch cover is around 700 bucks. Seems like it might be a decent setup for the money.

I think I'm pretty much sold on a Mantic single disk from ECS. Everyone seems very happy with them and for ~$700 they are rated for 700hp and supposedly drive like stock. Take a look at them, might be a good option.

Mantics are excellent. There is no reason to mod the prop shaft or go to a light clutch unless you are competing. You should replace the rubber couplers if they are old.

We would recommend the Mantic for your application. The single disc would work fine for your needs but the twin is a bit lighter @ 39 lbs.
For more dedicated track use we have used the 7000 series triple disc which still has great street manors, but we mainly use the 9000 series twin for street/track use.
Feel free to call or PM if you have any questions, we have these in stock and can ship out today if needed.

Of course our race cars all use the Tilton clutches and for track cars and Pro level race cars there isn't much better on the market. However for someone wanting to drive it on the street too, something a little bigger and heavier would make it easier to drive.
Something that pretty much came out of no were is the new Centerforce DYAD clutch. We have them going in 3 different cars right now, two NASA Z06's and one street/strip C5. So far they have held close to 1000 rwhp, they are light weight, pedal effort is easy and they work.
Just another option and they are under $1700 complete.
