C6 Z06 / GS Pad Compounds
How would you guys assess the OEM Z06/GS pad compound....performance that is similar to the Carbotech XP8, or 1521, or Hawk HP+ or ?
I did a little experimenting and ran XP10s up front with OEM padlets on the rear at Willow Springs. Braking feel, etc was fine for my taste with no pad deposits on the rear, fade, etc.
I'm an "8/10s driver" these days....just out to have fun, not set track records...and I instruct for BMW, PCA, etc. Nonetheless, just curious what others think

Well, I'm no expert but my first track experience with stock pads was:
1) they stopped pretty good, not as good as track pads,,, and didn't fade throughout the day.
2) the padlets have too much movement and I wore off the rear corners of all the padlets so bad that after one weekend they were down to the "wear warning" when I backed up. I could have turned them around and gotten another weekend out of them but didn't see it worth the effort.
On just the rears you may not have near the trouble.
If you aren't going all out you may not have problems with front vs rear braking grip.

Cobalt Friction XR2 or possibly XR3 pads.
I would not use them for a daily driver pad, but for on track performance, you will not find a better pad in performance and life of both the pad and rotor. These are a one piece pad, and unlike some of the others the shape is optimized for the most contact area that can be had within the stock caliper boundary.
Now the stock pad is a Ferrodo DSC2500 pad which isn't to bad and you will either find these or the DSC3000 in most aftermarket Brembo kits when you purchase a BBK if you have had a chance to drive one of those. Something we ran on the race cars back in the late 1980's so it has been around for a while and a little bit of an older technology pad.
