Track Coolant use ?
Just out of curiosity, what are you using for track coolant? I’m using water and water wetter, but I’m thinking i need to add something else due to the the different metals in my cooling system. I don’t want to get pitting. Thoughts?

From what I understand about Distilled Water and Water Wetter is that they are for the "Track." In an ideal world where you have a dedicated track car, by all means use these two. If you have a dual purpose car where you are attending a car show one weekend and then a track event the next I would use the Antifreeze/Distilled Water. Most HPDE events will have a large percentage of drivers on Antifreeze/Distilled Water. Water Wetter is very helpful as a lubricant for your OEM Water Pump, but in reality the OEM stuff is manufactured to be used with Antifreeze/Distilled Water. If you are in the mode of a Pure Track vehicle, then you start logging how many hours/events your water pump has on it vs. just waiting for a leak. When you get to a predetermined hour/event count, you replace the water pump. At this point you should have a list of just about everything to be replace at a predetermined hour/event count.

I am just using the standard 50/50 water/dexcool so I don't have to pull the water out of the block in the winter. Running stock C5 Z06 with Ron Davis radiator with integrated EoC. No heat issues.

If it's a pure track car that wont see sub zero temperatures, water and water wetter should be good. If its a street car, depending on your climate, some mix of antifreeze and water.

I always wonder what folks did about running water when they weren't at the track, when it's approaching the end of the season do you just drain it after every event? I've had a couple of off-season events where the temperature was below freezing overnight and part of the day and always found myself wondering that.

DEI makes a water-wetter like thing that also has anticorrosion agents.
