Sim Racing

This is rig #2 after selling my starter setup which was fanatec csl elite, obutto revolution rig, triple 24" setup.
New PC is self built with 7800x3d microcenter bundle with nvidia 3080 ftw.
Triple Samsung g5 32"
Rig is Advanced Sim Racing ASR-6 and I'm currently rocking both the integrated and stand alone triple monitor stand for a full on belt and suspenders approach.
Kirkey seat from a legends car, which I find way more comfy than it looks.
SIMTAG Tilton pedals.
Simucube sport wheelbasesimracebay Lambo GT3 wheel for road
Richmotech 14" MPI for oval
SiMagiic SQ1 sequential shifter
HSR wind sim
Yamaha receiver with NHT 5.1 Surround speaker setup.
Buttkicker mini under seat.
Simdog robo lab2 (pictured in charging mode)
I decided to go with a stand alone server rack to somewhat keep all the additional equipment organized
Pretty happy with it overall, and huge upgrade from previous rig. I'm right at 170' fov with the monitor 24" from my eyes. Stays above 100fps with most hogh quality settings enabled. Will probably add more bass shakers in the future and I'm also interested in a roof and ambient lighting setup.
Just getting started. Sim Labs P1X Pro frame, Sparco seat, Simagic Alpha/FX Pro wheel, P2000 Pedals with Haptics. Buttkicker Pro shaker. I’ve tried out Race Room Experience, F1 ‘24, Assetto Corsa, Assetto Corsa Competizione, an Assetto Corsa EVO. Once I get everything dialed in, I’ll try some iRacing.

It's much harder than racing bikes
Iracing exclusively right now and its a blast; try to get a race in at least every night.
Not being able to feel g's is a little hard but it really helps with paying attention to braking markers and learning tracks.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
- Sim-Lab TR1 frame
- Accuforce wheel
- SimForge pedals
- No monitors for racing, just a Pimax 5K VR headset
- The factory passenger seat from my C5Z (I sold the driver seat)
- 3080 graphics card
VR makes the whole rig more compact than it would be otherwise, which is good because my home office is packed. The resolution is good enough but not great - objects in the distance are kinda grainy. They had just come out with the 8K resolution headset when I put this all together, but I wasn't ready to spend quite that much. I rarely notice the resolution when I'm driving, mostly just on long straights if I look at stuff in the distance.
The only drawback to VR is that it made me feel slightly ill at first. I had to quit driving after 15 minutes, then 30 minutes, then an hour, then it stopped being an issue. Unless I spin - that's still gut-wrenching. But maybe that's a good thing.
I mostly do Assetto Corsa in track-day mode. I never had a problem staying away from other cars in real life wheel-to-wheel racing, but in sim races I hit people so often it's embarrassing. So I'm just working on car control rather than racecraft.

I just tried my Quest 3 on my pc and thought it looked pretty good overall and ran pretty well. A bit pixelated in the very far distance but that’s it. I kind of think that’s the best we will get with the Quest 3 though. .
Thanks and very nice set up. You must have a pretty beefy power supply!!
The FF1600 is a decent-enough kart substitute, and Laguna Seca has a lot of the characteristics of the track, but I think the real value of iRacing single player is that you can set up a wide variety of AI opponents to sort of reflect the gap between the fastest and slowest people out there.
It's been forever since I've done any endurance racing (and even that was on a motorcycle, not in a car/kart), and it's really interesting how much my concentration has improved (and mistakes reduced) over a week of doing these 1-hour training stints.
And, thankfully, the wife hasn't come into the room when I've been on the sim wearing full gear.
