Default Homebrew APR wing mount help

I bought my C6 with this APR GTC-500 wing atop of custom alum pedestals that go thru the rear bumper cover and mount to the rear bumper bracket.

Whoever did it added a matrix of bolt holes at the front attachment point but other than one slotted hole nothing else lines up leaving me with a fixed AOA.

Looking for some ideas on how to retain the pedestal mounting but gain adjustability. I guess I could see if APR would sell me trunk mount pedestals and brackets but then left with gaping holes in my bumper cover (although I would be able to open the trunk lid). But was thinking about a way to modify the homebrew pedestals and mount some existing wing hardware to it in order get adjustability.

I have a message into APR to see if I could buy the brackets that come mounted to the wing and if they have any other fab oriented solutions but nothing yet.

The forward hole in the pedestal looks to be slotted.
If so, it could slid and all of the other holes would be usable.

If it does not slide, could you enlarge the slot enough to move the bolt?
It look like the wing should be adjustable as built.

the APR mounts would lower it and move it forward, work with what you have. It can't go down much if any, but it can go up...looks like some creative drilling or slotting should take care of it

I cut mine at a slant to the rear to add a turnbuckle for adjustment.

That's a great idea.

I see after dark speed sells a mount kit similar to what I have but I believe it only protrudes up out of the bumper cover enough where the 4 slotted bolt pattern is used to mount a pedestal. Any idea if this is some sort of standard pattern and what brand wings would mount to it?

I would just cut off the mounts you have so they would be like the these mounts, then design your own top portion that puts the wing where you want it, make a cardboard pattern then find a water jet place or other CNC place to cut it out. I would not trade your mounts which look very solid for any type of trunk mount.

The After Dark Speed mounts do only stick up a few inches above the bumper, but they also spec much narrower mounting than your current mounts. I also mounted them narrower than After Dark recommends, because I wanted to keep all of my tail lights. I don't think buying those mounts is a good solution here: you'd need to move the attachment point on the wing, and still need new custom uprights.

I'd probably start with checking on those extra bolt holes that don't line up: how close are they, and can you drill them out bigger or add new ones to get it aligned at AoA options you like?

Remove the uprights from the car.
Find someone that can replicate them in a CAD file and add the holes you need.
Send that file as a .DXF to sendcutsend and have them made for stupid cheap
install the new uprights on your car. Be happy

Thanks to Z06801 for inspiration, this is what I am thinking about doing.

Mill a section out of the pedestal to accommodate a turnbuckle and drill and tap from the rear into the pedestal to bolt the lower ball end ( so its oriented 90 degrees from the top one). The pedestal is 5/8 thick so plenty of meat for a 5/16 bolt.

I determined the amount to mill based on the wing at 0 and 18 degrees (the extremes of the APR speed table for this wing) but 18 seems like an awful lot and likely will cause binding issues with that lower ball end as the wing angle gets adjusted to 0.

I was thinking about considering a max wing angle of 14 or 10. I'm new to a winged car so I don't know what is reasonable (at it mocked at 18 it looked like an airbrake).

At 18 degrees

When done the top ball end in this pic would be on the other side of the bracket so the turnbuckle is in-line with the pedestal......

looks like it will work great! I’ve wanted to change mine to an aircraft style fork turnbuckle I thought it would look a little cleaner with better airflow maybe.

After finding a mill to use this is what I ended up with. I epoxy primed and painted the pedestals after my powder coater let me down.

Works well and the front wing bolts allow for a reasonably quick way to pull the airfoil back to clear the hatch.

When I loosen the jam nuts i just rotate the turnbuckles simultaniously to change angle.
