I am trying to determine the correct intake manifold for my car, '64 327/300, where can I find this information?

Buy the NCRS Judging Guide. Make sure you get the latest revision. Early L75's used #3799349, late used #3844459. The casting date is to the rear of the carb in the MDDY format. M = month D = day Y = last digit of the year.

Mine is a 3844459, I think the casting number is L233. Is this Dec. 23, 1963? If so, does that sound right for vin #10353?

The reason I ask if it is correct or not is that I am wanting to put the pcv system back to original, but I don't see where the tube would attach to the manifold.

The suction part of the PVC system on a 64 300 hp connects to the back of the AFB carb thru a special 90 degree connector that has what amounts to a pinhole in it. The other end of the tube connected to the oil fill tube.

THe other half of the system used a tube connected to the bottom of the air cleaner base and was connected to the block just behing and a little towards the drivers side of the distributor.

None of the 300 hp PVC system connected directly to the intake manifold.

The whole system is outlined in the 64 AIM.

Hope this helps.

VIN# 10353 for a 1964 would have been an early February (1964) built car. Generally, engine related date codes are considered acceptable if they are within a 6 month window before the vehicle build date. Your date of L233 (Dec 23, 1963) would definitely be in line with your build date.

The part where the tube connects to the block is the part that I was confused about. I do have the AIM and see the part breakdown, I just thought that the tube attached to the manifold, not the block.

My block has a freeze plug in that hole

Thanks for the help!

64 Vert,

There is a good picture of the setup in L.I. Corvette's catalog:

http://www.licorvette.com/catalog23.htm

Go to section 22, second page. The illustration in the upper right side shows the whole setup.

Fresh air to the crankcase comes thru the tube from the bottom of the air cleaner (pieces 9 & 10) and air is sucked out of the crankcase via the oil fill tube thru hose and special fitting to the back of the carb (pieces 14 & 13).

The '64 300 hp does not have an actual PCV valve like we're all used to. The "special" fitting acts as the PCV valve. Actually just a 90 degree brass fitting with a very small hole in it.
