Style 65 467 = 1965 Convertible
S6014 Body = the 6,014th body that was assembled at the St. Louis plant.
Trim STD = Standard Trim, i.e. black vinyl
974AA Paint = Very Odd
In 1965 all the Paint Codes started with "900" and were followed by two letters. In your case "AA" means Tuxedo Black". However, your paint code has a "974" prefix and that actually looks more like a 1966 paint code. In that case it would be Rally Red. Doesn't make sense. Are you sure the Paint Code is correct? With that body assembly number your car probably would not be considered "late 1965" so the prefix switch at the factory for the 66 model would not apply. What is the VIN # by the way? We could figure out when your car came out of the factory if we had it.

Agree that the 974AA paint code isn't typical - VIN would be helpful.

Hmmmm, your VIN shows a "birthdate" of May 28, 1965. Maybe JohnZ can tell you if that's considered "late 65". If it is maybe the paint code standard had already changed by then. If your car is Rally Red then your Paint Code should have read 900UU for the 65 model year. For the 1966 model year the paint code could have been 974AA or just plain 974 for Rally Red.

Well, according to Noland Adams' book, 1965 Paint codes were ALL 900XX, whereas ALL 66s were 9##XX or 9## for cars built in St. Louis. Apparently there were no early implementations of the new 66 paint code and the plant worked into July so there were still two production months left in the 65 model year. Something fishy with your Trim Tag....
