Default trim tag codes

Need help on trim tag codes for 65. Have checked archives for past threads, but no luck. Am dinosaur in trying to search on puters, so will ask the more knowledgable on this site.
This is how the tag reads,

k29
style 19467 4-7178 body
trim 4148 F-F paint

Thanks,
and I do appreciate
Don

I may be wrong, if so others will jump in and correct me, but I read your tag info as follows:

K29 = build date of June 29th, 1965
Style 19467 = Corvette convertible
Trim 414 = Blue Vinyl interior
FF paint = Nassau Blue Paint

this link may help if you don't have the NCRS Judging Guide for '65 or the NCRS Corvette Spec. Guide book.

Its almost the big 40

In addition to what Barry said your Body number is actually A-7178 which means it is the 7178th convertable body made by A.O. Smith. The Trim number is 414B. The B is the A.O. Smith ECL for convertable.

Tom
in the past whenever someone referred to me as "special" they usually were implying that I rode the "little school bus"!

Default Trim code help also

Guys,

I would really appreciate some trim code help also. My car has a NY state VIN, but does have the trim plate. I can't tell if its an "early" or "late" 1963 SWC. Here's the details:

Style 63 837
Trim 490E
Body 2145
Paint 932A

I believe the 837 refers to a base sport coupe and the 932 refers to a saddle tan (not sure of the A) and the other numbers. Please help!!!

Default 1963 Swc

I just got the 1963 SWC 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately it has a New York assigned VIN; the original VIN plate is gone. I have not yet checked under the driver's side rail or the back rail bump to see if there is one there. Its an early frame-off so it could be gone already.

The car has had an early seventies custom job with a nose and flares very similar to the Motion Performance design. The car is from NY, but I'm not sure if its an actual Motion Performance car. I'm considering bringing it back with a new nose, but I would need the lightss, grill, bumpers, clip........

Actually the look is growing on me. The emblems and antenna are also removed to give it a more sleek look also. I am ordering interior parts (carpet, visors, trim parts etc) and there are 2 type of fender emblems listed (early and late). I'm not sure what my SWC is.

Does it have storage compartments under the seats?

Your car was probably built from parts of many different cars. Even if you find a proper vin on the frame, chances are you won't be able to use it. That vin may exist on another registered car somewhere.

You're very lucky. At least you're free to build and enjoy your Sting Ray any way you wish.

If you wanted to bring the car back to stock looking it wouldn't be that hard. A good one-piece front clip will be much stronger than original and much less expensive too.

All the body panels are readily available and easy to install. As long as your birdcage has no rust you're in fat city.

If you think you want a one-piece stock front end, email me. I have a perfect one in my garage that I won't be using. It's an ACI and I'd sell it for half the price of a new one.

You're going to have lots of fun with that car.

They ALL have areas under the seats, the difference is how deep they are. IF the Trim tag belongs to this car you're looking at a VIN # around 4190.

Thanks guys,

I will hopefully be speaking with one of the former owners who had the car for 30+ years. He had all the work done and it looks quite well done. The frame is pristine (all recoated with no rust) with all new suspension gear. The frame-off, customization and paint were all done 20 years ago. The paint is still immaculate with no stress cracks!! The ignition has all been transitorized and the car even has all the connections for NO2 which hasn't been used yet. Its now a dark metallic brown still with the tan interior. I have to finish the carpet and trim inside. Its been driven 1-2 times a year over the past 10 years. The owner had a nice heated storage place. My dream was a 1963 Sebring Silver (340) with a black interior and knock-offs. My first thought was to turn this one into it. Now I am reconsidering!!
