Looking at buying a 58 vette. Did these cars have a 6 or 12 volt system. Also the engine number is 3849852 and the block casting is FO428WA. I cannot match these numbers up to anything except the engine number shows 57-62 283 chevrolet but no reference to Corvette. Help if you can.

All Corvettes from '55-on were 12 volts (except for the tiny number of '55 six-cylinder cars); the "WA" suffix and 3849852 casting number ID's your engine as a '65-'67 283/175hp 2-barrel manual-transmission truck engine.
