Big Block Manifold
Has anyone installed an aluminum manifold on their big block? I am thinking about installing one on my stock big block. Any reccomendations on which one to use?

Not on the 390 hp.
Your profile dosen't say but if you have a stock L36 then you have all the manifold you really need. Given some serious modifications (cam, exhaust headers etc.) an aftermarket intake would make some difference.

in any case, i personally wouldn't go taller than a stock 425 manifold. they're 4.25" front, 5 7/8" rear (straight edge on carb mounting surface, hook tape measure on front and rear gasket surface and measure to straight edge.

More likely than not it`s a oval port BB and not a L72. Otherwise the OEM 427/450 HP manifold would have been a stock application and he wouldn`t need one. Therefore it would have to be exclusively an aftermarket oval port style. There may be hood problems too.

I used a Weiand on my L36. A few years ago Weiand produced a manifold that was a clone to the 425 HP unit but with oval ports. I believe that the number through Weiand was an 8031 but I won't swear to it. The only thing I did was a little port matching to try to get a little better flow. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Had to add a PS on this. My number on this manifold was incorrect. It is an 8013. Sells for less than $200 according to last parts web site I looked at. Can't tell you if it gives you anything with respect to HP or Rev's as I haven't put my car on the track in years. Hope this helps.

yes its a stock 390 hp..67. i was just toying with the idea of changing manifolds to save a bit of weight actually...and for looks..i do a lot of highway driving with it ..not into the racing anymore...was just curious if an aluminum would perform better ..perhaps a bit more efficent too. great response from you guys...thank you.

Holley offers a Weiand part #300-42. 6.01" tall in rear, 4.51" tall in front. List no footnotes re: special instructions regarding installation in a '67 Corvette.
Ironcross-where is the tongue-in-cheek smiley when you need him?

as sick as this sounds, you can run a L-72 intake on your heads.....
a square port intake wil seal to the oval port heads with a suare port gasket, just don't try it the other way around

FWIW: 'Old Blue' has a iron 3883948 manifold from a '68 passenger car that takes a Qjet. Works good, looks stock (unless you remove the air cleaner) and IT ELIMINATES THE &%$@# HOLLEY.
